What are Lip Injections?

Lip injections are a procedure where hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in our bodies—is injected to the lips to address a variety of different goals. The main one is to give them a plump and more youthful appearance. As we age we lose volume and definition of our lips so the main aim of getting lip filler is to restore that volume and the shape that is desired. ​Some women love super plump full lips and some don’t really want anyone to know they’ve done anything. There is a lip filler approach for everyone! Everyone's desired outcome can be achieved depending on the product and technique. That’s why I always start each consult with a discussion of your goals. You don’t have to come in and expect to leave with super full lips if that’s not what you’re looking for. For example, if you’re just looking to address wrinkles in the lips and not neccesarily the to increase their size, then are more subtle fillers and techniques that can be used.
Injecting lip fillers can lessen the appearance of the lines and wrinkles, giving the lip a more plump and hydrated look. Personally I’m very big on enhancing the shape of the lip and keeping it well defined and youthful. Some women want super full lips. Some patients want to go big or go home. Everyone wants something slightly different and I always say that lip size is a personal preference. In the consult I like to talk about what kind of look you’re going for. Some people bring "wish pics" and we talk about what is realistic to achieve with your own natural lip shape.

Common Lip Goals

People want lip fillers for various reasons. Some women just want a little more shape and definition, some are looking for less lines around their lips, some want a more "hydrated look", some want more volume and plumpness and some want extreme volume and plumpness. Fillers can enhance the shape and structure of your lips. Fillers can even be used to avoid lipstick bleeding, especially in patients who have lines around the mouth. Some people also want to achieve more symmetry than they have naturally. Your goals are my goals!
